NANGA / HINOC Aurora Down Jacket
This is a ROCOCO custom-made item that uses the flame-resistant special material “HINOC” fabric in NANGA's best-selling “AURORA Down Jacket”, one of Japan's leading down factories. It is also perfect for winter campfires and bonfires.
Reasons for Popularity
●The same 760 fill power Spanish white duck down as the Aurora Down.
●90% down, 10% feathers. The 140g of down ensures the same high level of warmth.
●Although many outdoor products are produced overseas, this is made in Japan.
●A total of 7 sizes are available, which is great for Japanese sizes.
NANGA
Founded in 1941 in Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture, this Japanese down product manufacturer remains dedicated to domestic production. Using safe, high-quality down and unique sewing techniques, they have become a leading brand of winter down outerwear in Japan.
A Flame-Resistant Fabric Developed by NANGA
Enjoying a campfire in a nature-rich setting is one of the true pleasures of autumn and winter outdoor life.
However, caution is needed when choosing what to wear around a fire. Sparks from the fire can easily damage nylon fabrics, causing holes that can be fatal for a down jacket.
To address this, NANGA developed the HINOC series, offering down outerwear you can wear confidently around a campfire.
A Material Used in Firefighting Protective Gear and Gloves
By blending polyester with Kevlar for the outer fabric, this jacket achieves exceptional flame resistance.
Its main features are high strength and high elasticity, along with flame resistance and heat tolerance. This versatile capability makes it suitable for firefighting suits and gloves.
*Note: This is not a completely fireproof material, so avoid prolonged exposure to sparks.
*Note: It has mild water repellency, but if it gets wet, please wipe it off immediately.
A Sophisticated, Urban Impression
The matte, structured fabric offers a more urban feel than the standard Aurora Down jacket.
Uses Spanish White Duck Down
With 760 fill power, it provides a comfortable level of insulation suitable for everyday life—neither over-engineered nor under-insulated.
Supple, Soft Down That Conforms to Your Body
European ducks are raised in spacious, low-stress environments, resulting in lofty, durable down.
Feathers from carefully raised white ducks are supple and soft, and the down gently conforms to your body. Packed with tiny air pockets, it boasts excellent warmth, insulation, and resilience.
Domestically Refined Feathers, Washed with Advanced Inspection Techniques
NANGA hand-selects high-quality raw feathers from Spain and uses refined inspection and washing processes in Japan, resulting in down that naturally regulates humidity and temperature, is durable, and free of feather-specific odors.
Carefully Adjusted Down Quantity
The standard Aurora Down uses 150g of down, but this special-order model uses 140g. Since HINOC fabric is stiffer than Aurora-Tex, adjusting the down to 140g achieves a moderate loft and the same insulation level. By fine-tuning the down quantity, NANGA maintains both visual balance and insulating power.
Why Use the Non-Pack Manufacturing Method?
To enhance design and reduce weight, NANGA employs a “non-pack method,” inserting down and feathers directly between the outer and inner fabrics. If you notice down or feathers on the fabric surface or emerging through seams, it’s a characteristic of the manufacturing process and does not indicate a defect.
A Different Sizing Approach: Fit Affects Warmth
While the Aurora Down Jacket was slightly upsized, this special-order model follows “Japanese sizing.” Since insulation improves with a closer fit, choosing the right size for your body is crucial.
By adopting a not-too-large Japanese sizing system, the jacket maximizes insulation. With seven size variations, customers can find their ideal fit.

Staff comment
● Staff (165cm/52kg) Body Type: Slim Worn: Size S/M. Wore over a thin sweatshirt, and felt that the XS was a little tight in the arms. The S fits well across the body, and the length covers the hips. The M is recommended if you plan to wear it over a thicker top or prefer a looser fit. The length is about 3cm below the hips. |
● Staff (171cm/61kg) Body Type: Average Worn: Size M/L. Wore over a thin sweatshirt, and it fit comfortably with some room. The length was just above the hips. If you want a looser fit or plan to wear it over a thick sweatshirt, the L size is a safe option, with the length covering the hips. |
● Staff (177cm/67kg) Body Type: Average Worn: Size L/XL. Wore over a thin sweatshirt, and the L was comfortable with no tightness, the length covering the hips. The XL provides plenty of room for a thick inner layer, with the length about 3cm below the hips. For a more fitted look, go with L; for a looser fit, XL is better. |
● Staff (181cm/80kg) Body Type: Stocky Worn: Size XL/XXL. Wore over a thin sweatshirt, and the XL had just the right amount of room, with the length covering the hips. For a more fitted look, XL is fine, but for a looser fit, XXL would be ideal. |
