The G9 has been updated into a down jacket. By using a ratio of 90% down and 10% feathers, which is said to be the golden ratio for down jackets, and filling it appropriately, the jacket is less casual and maintains the dignity of the G9, while at the same time providing solid warmth at a minimal level.
Furthermore, the details have been arranged in a more modern style, making this a versatile down jacket that fits in well with the city.

Founded in 1937 by the Miller brothers in Manchester, BARACUTA began by crafting innovative outerwear with exceptional water-repellency and wind protection. The iconic G9 was originally designed as a golf jacket, and went on to become the prototype for what we now call the blouson. Today, it remains a timeless classic beloved around the world.
The shell is crafted from nylon with a natural grainy texture. Wrinkles are less noticeable, and the subtly matte sheen is created by soft, diffused reflection—adding an understated elegance to the piece.
The lining features BARACUTA’s traditional tartan check, offering a refined touch when the front zipper is left open. The sleeves are fully lined with smooth 100% polyester for easy, comfortable layering.
Classic details, reimagined for today
The signature “Dog Ear” collar—named for its resemblance to a dog’s floppy ears—is an iconic G9 detail. Worn standing, it adds a relaxed, effortless mood; buttoned, it enhances wind protection and sharpens the silhouette.
The front uses flat dot-buttons. Though they are snap buttons, they retain a minimal presence even when left open, enhancing the clean, modern aesthetic.
Originally made for golf, the jacket features raglan sleeves for easy movement. The generous armhole width provides comfortable layering—even with wide-fit T-shirts.
The back panel includes an “umbrella yoke,” a design that channels rainwater smoothly—both functional and aesthetically distinctive.
The cuffs use elastic shirring hidden beneath the outer fabric. This discreet ribbing maintains a clean appearance while offering a secure, refined fit.
The two-way front zipper offers multiple styling options, from structured to relaxed.
Drawcords at both sides of the hem allow subtle adjustments—shifting the look toward a more sporty, functional expression when desired.
