The Origin of Workwear—Hickory Stripe
The fabric is made from 100% cotton hickory stripe, a traditional material known for its practicality, originally favored by railroad workers and laborers for its ability to conceal dirt.

While it has a firm structure, it is lighter and easier to wear than denim. With continued wear, the texture deepens, and the stripes develop greater character. It balances the rugged nature of workwear with a clean, approachable look that integrates easily into everyday styling.





Faithfully Recreated Period Details
The compact, refined collar is characteristic of 1st and wartime models, reflecting the jacket’s origins in shirt-based designs.



An original deerskin patch at the back of the neck evokes a vintage aesthetic.



The front pleats, secured with box stitching, were originally designed to be released to adjust the fit, allowing the garment to expand according to the wearer’s body.

The placket and cuffs feature donut buttons engraved with laurel motifs. During wartime, material restrictions led to the use of these simplified buttons, while the laurel engraving was said to preserve a sense of refinement.



A single chest pocket without a flap is placed on the left side—reflecting the original design, where workers in coal mines were limited to carrying only essential items.



Tucks on both sides of the yoke provide enhanced mobility around the arms.



Adjusters at the waist help prevent the jacket from shifting during work—another functional detail carried over from its origins.





The slightly relaxed body width and short box silhouette remain true to the original design. Originally intended to allow ease of movement as workwear, this balanced fit also translates naturally into modern styling.
