Japan's first power loom "G3"
As most member of Haku community love Japanese denim, today we would like to introduce about G3 Denim series from FOB factory. G3 is the oldest power loom in Japan currently exists but it is quite rare machine and requires techniques of highly skilled craftmen. Starting from the history, we are going to show you why the denim is called "Phantom denim".
The Phantom Power Loom "G3"
G3 refers to a loom called the Toyota Automatic Loom Model G3, which was used more than half a century ago. This loom was Japan's first power loom, which was produced and operated only for a short period of time during the golden age of vintage denim. It is said that there are only a few of these machines in existence and in operation, so you can image why they are so rare. The reason for the scarcity of machines in service is that they require a great deal of labor and maintenance in the event of a breakdown.
There are, of course, no replacement parts for this half-century old power loom, and parts must be removed and replaced from the same type of machine. Also, there are not many engineers who have the skills to repair this machine.
Phantom looms indeed....As for the production performance of the G3, it can weave only about 5 meters per hour. To be honest, it is a very inefficient machine at present, but to put it another way, the number of denim produced on this loom is so small that denim made on this machine is very rare. In other words, even at the expense of production efficiency, there is a certain charm to the denim that is sought after!
Features of G3 Denim
This 14oz denim produced by G3 has a "unique unevenness" and "rough texture" that emerges on the surface, and could be mistaken for vintage. The 14 oz. heavy denim fabric has a softness similar to hand-woven denim by loosely weaving the warp threads with ultra-low tension.
This is a denim that is both rugged and comfortable, with a warm hand feeling, and is a denim that fits comfortably on the body. Why don't you feel this rare denim? We do not know when the production of this G3 denim will end. Now or Never. If you are interested, we recommend you to get it ASAP.
