Inspired by vintage styles, FOB FACTORY is a brand based in Kurashiki, Okayama, one of Japan's leading production centers, specializing in workwear, military wear, and jeans. The entire production process takes place in Japan. The brand aims to create clothing that customers will feel good about purchasing even three years later.
Why FOB Chooses the G3 Loom
For denim fabric production, FOB FACTORY uses the Toyota Automatic Loom Type G3 (commonly known as G3). This loom is extremely old, with only a few operational units in Japan and worldwide. It requires skilled artisans for adjustment and operation. It can weave only about 5 meters per hour, making it about 1/5 to 1/6 the speed of modern looms.
Why invest significant effort and use the low-efficiency G3 loom for denim production? - Because FOB appreciates the unique texture and rugged appearance that only the G3 can achieve.
Meticulous Material Selection with Roots in America, Birthplace of Jeans
Emphasizing the birthplace of jeans in America, FOB FACTORY uses Supima cotton grown along the Mississippi River in the United States for its cotton. Known for its long fibers and minimal fiber ends when spun into yarn, Supima cotton produces supple and strong threads.
With a weight of 14oz, the fabric initially feels stiff but softens and molds to the body over time, enhanced by a one-wash process for immediate comfort compared to raw denim.
Designed reminiscent of early 1900s workwear denim jackets, minimizing the sewing processes to highlight rugged details such as riveted tucks.
Brass donut buttons on the front serve as accents. Leather patches on the neck, copper rivets, and other details are all original designs of the brand.
The selvedges on the pockets and hems enhance the vintage look.
Using rolled stitching in key areas not only ensures durability but also enhances the aesthetic with pronounced puckering.
