SUGAR CANE
SUGAR CANE / 9oz Wabash Stripe Engineer Pants
Introducing SUGAR CANE's iconic engineer pants, a long-selling model loved season after season.
Inspired by 1930s work pants, they are crafted from classic wabash stripe fabric once worn by railroad workers of the era. The result is a piece that combines rugged character with timeless vintage appeal.
A signature model representing the brand, it is an easy recommendation for both first-time buyers and those looking to replace a well-loved pair.
As the fabric ages with wear, it develops a deeper character and becomes uniquely yours. Watching it evolve over time is one of the enduring pleasures of authentic workwear.

SUGAR CANE
Despite its unmistakably American name, meaning “sugar cane,” SUGAR CANE was Japan’s first postwar clothing manufacturer established to produce garments for the U.S. market. Founded in 1965 to manufacture clothing for the U.S. military, the company initially supplied garments to personnel associated with American military bases. Following the end of the Vietnam War, it shifted its focus to the domestic market while continuing to uphold the authentic quality of American-style workwear, with a particular emphasis on denim.

Substantial 9 oz Wabash Fabric
Wabash stripe fabric uses discharge printing to create its distinctive striped pattern. Said to be inspired by the flow of Indiana's Wabash River, it is characterized by the way its dotted pattern remains visible as the indigo gradually fades.
Unlike stripes created by weaving contrasting yarns into the fabric, the pattern is formed through tonal variation. This results in a smoother surface and gives the fabric a more unified appearance with the indigo.
The reverse side features printed brand logos throughout, adding an authentic detail that is revealed when the hems are rolled up.
Please note: Color fading and transfer may occur during the initial stages of wear. Take care to avoid contact with white clothing, footwear, and bare skin.
Authentic Vintage Details Throughout
A rear cinch strap at the waist allows for easy fit adjustment without the need for a belt.
The three front buttons feature an aged finish that enhances the garment's vintage character.
The right front pocket features a branded watch pocket.
Another distinctive feature is the unique pocket-opening stitchwork, faithfully reproduced from vintage work pants.
The side seams feature durable flat-felled construction, a traditional workwear detail that enhances the garment's rugged character.
The distinctive red stitching becomes a subtle accent when the hems are rolled up.
A Timeless, Easy-Wearing Wider Fit
The silhouette is based on a 1930s model and cut with a slightly wider shape.
Wear them rolled up for a rugged American workwear look, or have them hemmed and style them like wide pinstripe trousers. However you wear them, they're a pair you can truly make your own.

●Staff Height/Weight: 165cm / 64kg Wearing Size: 30 Body Type: Slim (Narrow Shoulders) Thighs: Muscular Fit (Waist): Relaxed Length: Slightly Long I wore size 30. As the design is based on 1930s work trousers, even the smallest 30-inch size creates a distinctly rugged width through the hips and thighs. The inseam is long, so they also look good with the hems rolled up generously twice. |

●Staff Height/Weight: 171cm / 70kg Wearing Size: 30 / 32 Body Type: Regular Fit (Waist): Just Right / Relaxed Length: Slightly Long I wore sizes 30 and 32. Size 30 is recommended for a true-to-size fit, while size 32 offers a wider, more ruggedly classic silhouette. The 32-inch size feels relaxed at the waist, but can be held securely with a belt or the rear cinch strap. |

●Staff Height/Weight: 177cm / 73kg Wearing Size: 32 / 34 Body Type: Regular Fit (Waist): Just Right / Relaxed Length: Slightly Long Size 32 offers a comfortable true-to-size fit similar to the model in the photographs. Choosing size 34 creates a distinctly wider workwear silhouette throughout. |

●Staff Height/Weight: 181cm / 78kg Wearing Size: 34 / 36 Body Type: Broad Build (Wide Shoulders) Thighs: Muscular Fit (Waist): Just Right / Relaxed Length: Slightly Long I wore sizes 34 and 36. Even with my broad build, size 34 provides ample room around the thighs while maintaining a masculine, true-to-size fit. Size 36 is suitable for an even looser look, although the waist becomes considerably wider and requires a belt. |
