FOB FACTORY / F2466 SV Denim 1st Type Jacket
Born in the 1930s, the “1st Type” is regarded as one of the original forms of the denim jacket. This piece carries forward its defining details while reinterpreting them through FOB FACTORY’s modern perspective.
Front pleats, a single flap chest pocket, and a cinch back preserve the unmistakable vintage character. At the same time, the silhouette is given comfortable room through the body, while the length is adjusted so it does not feel excessively cropped.
“I love the look of a 1st Type, but the traditional short length can be hard to pull off.” This jacket offers a well-balanced silhouette that makes the style easy to incorporate into a modern wardrobe.
Simply throw it over a T-shirt or shirt and it has more than enough presence on its own. Pairing it with the matching “F137” denim pants and letting both pieces age together is also highly recommended.

FOB FACTORY
Based in Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama—one of Japan’s leading production centers—FOB FACTORY creates workwear, military-inspired pieces, and jeans rooted in vintage clothing. Every stage of production takes place in Japan, with the aim of making clothes that customers will still be glad they purchased three years later.

Simply throw it over a T-shirt or shirt and it has more than enough presence on its own. Pairing it with the matching “F137” denim pants and letting both pieces age together is also highly recommended.

The secret behind the rugged texture: “nep”
The fabric is made from American cotton sourced from the EMOT region. Nep yarn is used in the weft to recreate the irregular, richly textured appearance found in vintage denim.
<What is nep?>
Nep refers to small knots and irregular flecks of yarn that appear across the surface of the fabric. In this denim, the nep is particularly pronounced, creating a coarse, rugged character distinct from smooth and uniform denim.
At 14oz, the fabric has a substantial weight for denim. Its selvedge construction, woven on vintage looms, adds another layer of distinctive texture and character.
From the firmness and uneven texture when new to the way it gradually conforms to the body over time, this denim showcases the dedication FOB puts into developing its fabrics.
The front features pleats characteristic of the 1st Type design. A single chest pocket is placed on the left side only, faithfully recreating the clean, uncomplicated design of the period without unnecessary additions.

FOB-engraved iron buttons are used throughout. As the denim fades, the buttons gradually develop rust, allowing not only the fabric but the hardware to age alongside it.
Punched copper rivets, a leather patch, and other carefully considered details complete the construction. Rather than simply making the jacket “look old,” FOB has gone further, faithfully recreating the construction methods and character of the era.
A cinch back is placed at the rear to adjust the waist width. Though largely decorative today, it gives the back of the jacket an unmistakably vintage presence.

“T-BACK” construction exclusive to sizes 40 and above
Sizes 40 and above feature the so-called “T-BACK” construction, with the back panel joined down the center.
This vintage detail originated because the narrow width of selvedge denim woven on traditional shuttle looms made it impossible to cut the back of larger sizes from a single piece of fabric.
From a purely practical standpoint, this detail is no longer necessary. Choosing to reproduce it anyway reflects FOB FACTORY’s dedication to craftsmanship and its commitment to faithfully recreating the character of the era.
The jacket features a boxy silhouette with slightly generous room through the body. While preserving the character of a classic 1st Type, the length is carefully balanced so it does not feel excessively cropped.
Pair it with slim trousers to let the jacket take center stage, or wear it with wide-leg trousers or denim in the same fabric. While inspired by vintage pieces, its versatile design does not limit your styling options, making it easy to incorporate naturally into your everyday wardrobe.
