Launched in 2009 as the private label of Tokyo-based select shop “1LDK” in Nakameguro. Built around the concept of a “new standard,” UNIVERSAL PRODUCTS. creates high-quality, timeless pieces that transcend seasons, trends, and age. The fabric is 100% cotton “Jumberca loopback jersey.”

Slowly knitted over time on a vintage machine known as a Jumberca, the fabric develops a dense structure without becoming overly stiff, achieving a substantial yet comfortable weight with a naturally soft feel.



A tumbler finish gives it an even fuller texture while helping minimize shrinkage from home washing. The character of the fabric continues to develop with repeated washes.

As the soft fabric falls naturally along the wide silhouette, it creates an elegant drape that sets these trousers apart from conventional sweatpants.





Look inside and the true trouser construction becomes clear
Despite being made from sweatshirt fabric, considerable care has gone into the construction.

The waist features double pleats and a button fly. Inside, the waistband is finished with a specially constructed interlining commonly used in tailored trousers, while the seam allowances are carefully enclosed with fabric piping for a clean, refined finish.





The piping conceals the raw edges of the seam allowances, creating a cleaner appearance while helping prevent fraying and reducing contact against the skin. This level of finishing, even in areas normally unseen, reveals the character of these trousers.



There are four pockets in total: easy-access slash pockets at both sides and clean single-welt pockets at the back.

Rather than the elastic waistband typically found on sweatpants, the fit is adjusted with a drawcord. Belt loops are also included, allowing you to wear the trousers casually cinched with the drawcord or pair them with a leather belt for a more trouser-like look.





A drawcord is also placed at the hem. Leave it loose for the clean fall of wide trousers, or tighten it to create more volume around the feet and change the silhouette.





The silhouette is a generously proportioned wide fit.

Thanks to the soft loopback fabric, the trousers have volume without appearing stiff or bulky, creating a natural vertical drape. Wearing them with a slight break at the hem further emphasizes their relaxed character.

On weekends, pair them effortlessly with a sweatshirt and sneakers. With knitwear or a shirt and leather shoes, they take on a cleaner, more refined character while retaining their ease. For days when sweatpants feel too casual but tailored trousers feel too formal, this pair offers exactly the right balance.
