Founded in Mantova, Italy, in 1816, Astorflex is a shoe brand known for its expertise in the Stitchdown construction method. From design to production, everything is done in Italy, ensuring a strong relationship of trust with local artisans and factories. The brand strives to deliver high-quality shoes at a fair price.
Two Core Philosophies
Astorflex operates with two guiding principles: "environmentally conscious material selection" and "treating shoes not as fashion accessories, but as tools designed for comfortable walking." These philosophies are at the heart of their product creation.
The upper is made from suede leather with a refined, short-fiber texture that gives it a sophisticated finish.
The lining and insole are crafted from vegetable-tanned calf leather, tanned without chemicals using plant-based agents like oak bark and mimosa. This slow tanning process creates leather that is both durable and highly absorbent.
Comfort-Focused Details
The shoes use the Stitchdown method, known for its soft and comfortable fit.
The footbed features cork latex, providing excellent cushioning and flexibility. It's molded to follow the natural contours of the foot, ensuring comfort right from the start.
Note: The small holes at the toe and heel are from the process used to secure the lining and footbed and are not product defects.
The midsole also uses vegetable-tanned leather. While synthetic materials are often used for cost-cutting reasons, this model opts for durable hard leather, which also enhances moisture absorption inside the shoe.
The outsole is made from natural crepe rubber, derived from the sap of Brazilian rubber trees, offering excellent cushioning and grip. Even the adhesive used to attach the sole is made from natural materials.
Despite its comfortable silhouette, this shoe exudes the refined atmosphere unique to Made in Italy craftsmanship.
These shoes fit seamlessly into both casual and polished styles, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
They also come with flat spare laces for you to switch up the look as desired.
