■ The 1st model faithfully reproduces the air of 1936.
1936 is the year that Levi's iconic 1st denim jacket was born. This 1936 model is a faithful reproduction of that model.
The short length, wide width, and roomy arms are the same as the silhouette of that time.
The soft 13.5 oz selvedge denim grows in depth as it is worn, and the classic boxy silhouette that evokes the spirit of the times creates a masculine look that will never fade away.
Due to the width of the denim fabric, the back of size 46 or larger features an EXTRA SIZE Split Back, just as it did in 1936.

SUGAR CANE
Named after “sugar cane,” this quintessentially American brand was, in fact, Japan’s first postwar clothing manufacturer for the U.S. market. Founded in 1965 to produce garments for the U.S. military, SUGAR CANE initially supplied military base personnel before shifting its focus to the domestic market after the Vietnam War. Today, it continues to uphold authentic American workwear traditions—particularly in denim—crafted with uncompromising quality.
The sleeve and body lengths remain nearly the same, with subtle differences in shoulder and chest width between sizes. Both fits maintain a clean, balanced look—choose according to your preferred silhouette.

13.5oz selvedge denim — rugged yet comfortable
Every process—from spinning and dyeing to weaving and sewing—has been meticulously controlled to reproduce the texture of vintage denim. Made from irregular No.7 yarns for both warp and weft, this 13.5oz selvedge denim offers a rich, uneven surface with character. One-wash treatment gives it a soft hand right from the start, while the fabric retains a sturdy feel that develops a beautiful patina and fades uniquely over time.

Authentic vintage-inspired detailing
Action pleats on both sides of the front placket enhance mobility—a functional feature originally designed for workers.
The slightly lower chest pocket placement is a hallmark of early 1st-generation denim jackets.
Deerskin patch, bartack reinforcements at the cuffs, and solid rivets—all details that grow richer with age and wear.
A cinch back at the hem allows for adjustable fit and adds a touch of traditional workwear charm.
In the past, due to fabric width limitations, sizes 46 and up required two back panels to be joined together. This central seam—known as the split back or T-back—is faithfully reproduced here as a nod to the originals.
A timeless boxy silhouette, modern and versatile
The cropped length and roomy body with wide arms create a balanced box silhouette that pairs effortlessly with any bottoms. Designed for easy layering, it bridges vintage authenticity with modern wearability—a piece built to be worn and loved for years to come.
