■The 1945 model evolved to be more "chino-like"
BUZZ RICKSONS’ reproduction of the 1945 military chinos builds on the perfection of the 1942 model and transitions to a more standardized, classic chino design.

While the 1942 model retained rare sewing techniques, such as two-needle rolled seams, the 1945 model adopts split-seam construction. This brings it closer to the “classic” chino style with diagonal pockets and conventional stitching that most people imagine when they think of chinos.

At the same time, distinctive details from the original, such as U.S. ARMY-stamped metal buttons and double-welt pockets, remain. The result is a versatile pair that retains its rugged character while being easier to wear in everyday settings.

BUZZ RICKSONS
Founded in 1993, BUZZ RICKSONS is a brand dedicated to pursuing the history and pride of flight jackets. Its reproduction work is based on original military specifications of the era, with uncompromising attention paid to every detail—from yarn spinning and weaving to fabric selection, authentic military components, and overall silhouette. Each piece is crafted with deep craftsmanship, faithfully recreating the appeal of vintage flight jackets.

Postwar chino fabric that develops character over time
The fabric is 100% cotton, inspired by military trousers of the postwar era. In its unwashed state, it has a firm structure and feels quite stiff at first wear.

With repeated wear and washing, it gradually softens and gains a richer texture. Designed to be “broken in” over time, the fabric becomes more characterful and rewarding, deepening your attachment the longer you wear it.

Looks classic—but actually rare
The 1945 model features signature chino details, including split seams and slanted pockets. At first glance it appears basic, but the front uses metal buttons engraved with “U.S. ARMY,” and the pocket openings are finished with the technically demanding double-welt construction.

This combination is rare even among vintage pieces, reflecting a time when quality was prioritized over mass production. While the 1942 model showcased “technical perfection,” the 1945 version focuses on practicality and versatility.

A reassuring pair defined by depth and width
With a deep rise and an overall relaxed, wide silhouette, this design follows the transition from World War I-era jodhpurs to trousers, resulting in straight, stable lines that feel substantial.

Compared to the 1942 model, the more restrained details make it easy to pair with a wide range of tops—from shirts and coveralls to jackets. For those seeking rugged character with everyday versatility, the 1945 model is a perfect choice.
