Don't Let Sweat Stains Settle In.
Here's How to Wash Your Cap at Home.
Summer's almost over, but your cap's been through a lot.
Sweat, sun, dust... it's all part of the wear. But if you leave it unwashed, those stains start to stick. And stink.
Before that happens, here's how to take care of your cap at home - easily, and without ruining its shape.
1. First, Check the Label
Not all caps are safe to soak.
Look inside for washing symbols:
☑ Hand wash or machine wash? You're good to go.
☒ Do not wash - Consider professional cleaning or spot-cleaning only.
*Some vintage caps have cardboard in the brim - ever soak these. Just clean the sweatband area gently.

2. What You'll Need
- A basin or sink
- Mild detergent (like for delicates)
- Towel
- Toothbrush or soft brush
(Old hotel toothbrushes = perfect tool.)

3. Wash by Stain Level
Fresh Sweat Stains?
Use a bar of soap to gently clean:
- 01: Soak cap in water or lukewarm water
- 02: Lather bar soap and gently rub stained areas
- 03: Use a toothbrush if needed - gently

Set-in Sweat Stains?
Go for mild detergent:
- 01: Mix a small amount into water and soak the cap
- 02: Lightly scrub the sweatband and inner areas
- 03: Rinse thoroughly and pat dry
- *For stubborn spots, apply detergent directly before scrubbing.

Yellowing (especially on white caps)?
Time for baking soda:
- 01: Mix baking soda with water and spray or dab on the stains
- 02: Use a toothbrush to scrub gently
- 03: Rinse by hand (Don't machine wash with baking soda)

4. Drying Without Losing Shape
- - Never wring out your cap
- - Instead, pat dry with a towel
- - Place on a bowl or colander to retain shape
- - Let air dry in the shade

5. Between-Wash Maintenance
Don't want to wash often?
Keep it fresh like this:
- 01: After wearing, wipe inside and outside with a damp towel
- 02: For heavier dirt, mix in a bit of mild detergent
- 03: Wipe off detergent with a clean damp towel
- 04: Let air dry naturally (away from sun)
