BUZZ RICKSONS
BUZZ RICKSONS / M-65 No Hood Parka
The authentic M-65 parka from Japanese military wear brand BUZZ RICKSON’S.
This item was adopted as the successor to the M-51 Parka. Since it was originally designed to be worn over a field jacket as an insulating layer, the buttons for attaching it and the roomy silhouette make this item a gem that is dedicated to "authentic liner design" in every corner.
The precious details, which are now only available in vintage products from that time, are also points not to be missed. Please pay attention to each and every spec that makes you want to look at it carefully.

BUZZ RICKSON'S
Founded in 1993, BUZZ RICKSON’S is a brand devoted to preserving the history and craftsmanship of classic flight jackets. Each piece is recreated in accordance with original military specifications—from yarn spinning and fabric weaving to hardware selection and silhouette design. It faithfully revives the authenticity and pride of vintage military wear, with meticulous attention to detail.
Cotton-Nylon Fabric That Blends Seamlessly into Modern Style
While the original M-51 parka featured a heavy satin shell, this updated version uses a durable yet lightweight cotton-nylon Oxford weave. Its quick-drying properties, once valued for use in damp environments, remain ideal for modern comfort. The fabric’s refined texture and moderate thickness make it suitable for multi-season wear from early autumn through spring.
Authentic Military Detailing
One of the defining features of the M-65 parka was its detachable hood. Here, BUZZ RICKSON’S reimagines the silhouette with a clean, stand-collar design that creates a sharp, contemporary look.
The front zipper is a faithfully reproduced “Crown Zipper,” an iconic component used in military gear from the 1930s to the 1960s—now virtually unobtainable in original form. BUZZ RICKSON’S acquired the rights to recreate it, reviving the tactile authenticity of the era. The dual-closure system of zipper and buttons enhances both durability and insulation.
Elastic cuffs ensure a snug fit around the wrists, effectively blocking cold air.
The side pockets are lined with soft wool for extra warmth—perfect for chilly days when gloves aren’t quite necessary.
The fishtail hem, inherited from the original M-51 design, once allowed soldiers to tie the extended tails between the legs to trap body heat. Today, it serves both as a distinctive design element and an added layer of protection against the cold.
Every small component—including buttons and liner attachment points—is crafted to authentic military specifications, reflecting BUZZ RICKSON’S commitment to durability and longevity, which is why the brand is so highly regarded.
Military Heritage Refined for Urban Wear
While preserving the authenticity of vintage military design, the silhouette has been subtly refined for a modern fit—slightly relaxed for ease and comfort. The signature khaki-green tone enhances its presence as a statement outerwear piece, effortlessly bridging utility and contemporary style. Whether in the city or outdoors, it’s a jacket built to perform and endure.

Staff comment
● Staff (165cm / 52kg) Build: Slim Wearing: Size S The back length reaches around the knee, but the front is shorter, giving a clean look. The sleeves gather slightly at the wrist, giving it a relaxed vibe. The size S fits perfectly in terms of length, but if you prefer an oversized fit or want to layer with thicker tops, I recommend size M. |
● Staff (171cm / 61kg) Build: Average Wearing: Size M The length covers the hip, and the sleeve length is long enough to almost cover the hands, but the cuffs hold at the wrist, giving a relaxed and stylish look. The fit is spacious, so you can comfortably layer with thick sweaters or other garments. |
● Staff (177cm / 67kg) Build: Average Wearing: Size L The shoulders are not overly dropped, providing a comfortable fit. The sleeve length is well-suited, and the cuffs hold the sleeves at the wrist, ensuring a neat, tailored look. The back is slightly longer, covering the thighs. |
● Staff (181cm / 80kg) Build: Muscular Wearing: Size L/XL The size L offers plenty of room in the body, providing a comfortable fit without feeling tight. However, for those who prefer to layer with thick knits during winter, I recommend sizing up. The length of size L reaches the thighs, while XL is slightly longer. In either case, it covers the hips and feels warm. |
