SANDERS
SANDERS / 1944B1 Punched Cap Derby Shoes
A Sanders masterpiece that will tickle the hearts of trad lovers.
These shoes are a reproduction from the archives of military shoes worn by the British military, especially heavy weapons units, from the 1880s to the 1950s, and updated in the modern style.
The exquisite perforation of the punched cap toe gives the design a lightness and elegance that blends naturally with casual outfits.
The last (wooden pattern) "SL15111" used is characterized by a wide and unique square toe typical of the B.G.S. collection and a beautiful shape from the top of the foot to the heel. In addition to the glossy polished leather, it is equipped with a rubber sole with excellent grip, making it a gem that can be enjoyed in all weather conditions and on a daily basis.

What is the “B.G.S. COLLECTION”?
Short for “Boots, Ankle, General Service,” this collection revives the so-called “Ammunition Boots” supplied to the British Army from the 1880s to the 1950s. Sanders also produced and supplied these boots at the time, and today the last and design have been faithfully recreated from its archives.
With a bold, masculine silhouette, the boots are crafted using the Goodyear welt construction for durability and comfort. A traditional yet practical military footwear collection that continues to hold strong appeal.

SANDERS
A prestigious British shoemaker with over 150 years of history in Northampton, the heartland of English footwear. Since its founding, Sanders has remained committed to using natural materials for most of its components, while delivering remarkable cost performance—a key part of its enduring reputation.

Premium polished leather, resistant to scuffs and moisture
The uppers are crafted from high-quality polished leather, distinguished by a lustrous finish that resists scratches, stains, and rain.
Easy to care for—routine brushing keeps them clean, and when the shine dulls, a quick polish with a damp soft cloth restores its brilliance. A practical leather that allows you to enjoy a touch of British elegance every day.

Goodyear welt construction for longevity
This construction stitches the upper, insole, and sole together with a narrow welt, ensuring excellent resistance to water penetration. The robust triple-layered sole structure—midsole, cork filling, and outsole—adapts over time, molding to the wearer’s foot like a custom insole. Durable, supportive, and comfortable, it offers a solid fit and a weighty, enduring character.

Confident steps with studded soles
The sole is made from durable, water-resistant Dainite studded rubber by Harboro Rubber Co. Compared to leather soles, it offers superior grip, durability, and waterproofing, keeping you steady even on rainy days.
The clean silhouette avoids looking overly casual, making it well-suited for city wear. A classic sole choice for British footwear.

Swap the laces to match your look
Comes with an extra pair of olive laces, allowing you to change the style according to your outfit or mood.

A rounded toe with effortless British charm
The last is designed with a short, rounded toe and a balanced volume, creating a silhouette that blends naturally with both workwear and tailored styles. Neither overly dressy nor too casual, it strikes a rare equilibrium—quietly exuding the ease of a true English gentleman.

Staff comment
●Staff (165cm / 52kg) Usual shoe size: 26cm Wearing: 6 (25cm), 6H (25.5cm) Tried on with medium-thickness socks. Size 6 had a snug fit around the width, with about 1.5 toe-widths of space in length—overall a just-right fit. Size 6H offered slightly more room in the width, while the length felt nearly the same, providing a comfortable fit. Both sizes worked, but if you prefer a closer fit that will break in with wear, size 6 is recommended. |
●Staff (171cm / 61kg) Usual shoe size: 27cm Wearing: 8H (27.5cm) With medium-thickness socks, the width fit perfectly. There was a little extra space at the toes, but no slipping inside the shoe—both the length and width felt comfortable with no tightness. Considering the leather will soften, you could also size down to 8 for a closer fit. It may feel snug at first across the width, but will break in nicely. |
●Staff (177cm / 67kg) Usual shoe size: 27.5cm Wearing: 8H (27.5cm), 9 (28cm) Tried on with medium-thickness socks. Size 8H had a good fit across the width, with no pressure on the toes. The instep felt a little snug, but this should ease as the leather breaks in. Size 9, however, felt noticeably large, with too much room inside the shoe, so size 8H was the ideal fit. |
