NANGA / Aurora Down Jacket
NANGA's flagship model “Aurora Down Jacket” has been redesigned and renewed this season.
The silhouette has been made roomier than before, making it easier to wear a thick inner layer. Please enjoy this jacket that has evolved to be even more comfortable to wear while maintaining its warmth.
Outdoor Specifications for Everyday Use
NANGA’s flagship "Aurora Down Jacket" has been redesigned and relaunched this season.
The jacket is now approximately 3 cm wider in the chest and longer in length, making it easier to layer with thicker innerwear while retaining the same warmth. Experience a piece that has evolved for even greater comfort.
NANGA
Founded in 1941 in Maibara, Shiga Prefecture, NANGA is a down product manufacturer dedicated to domestic production. Using safe, high-quality down and proprietary sewing techniques, NANGA has become a leading brand for winter down outerwear in Japan.
High-Performance Nylon with Breathability, Insulation, and Water Resistance
Aurora-Tex, a breathable, waterproof fabric with microporous polyurethane coating, overcomes down's weakness to moisture. This high-performance nylon provides breathability, insulation, and water repellency, allowing use in all weather conditions and extending its versatility.
Ripstop Fabric for Enhanced Durability
The high-performance nylon is crafted into a ripstop fabric that resists tearing better than conventional nylon, making it ideal for active use and ensuring long-lasting durability.
One Layer is All You Need in Japanese Winters
The down is sourced from Spanish white duck, with quality influenced by not just the breed but also the conditions and duration of rearing.
Raised in expansive, well-equipped environments in Spain, these ducks produce down that is supple, soft, and excellent in insulation, offering ideal warmth and comfort without excess.
Why We Use the Non-Pack Method
To enhance the design and lightness, NANGA employs the "non-pack method," placing down directly between the outer and inner layers. Down may sometimes adhere to the fabric or emerge slightly from the seams, but this is a characteristic of the manufacturing process and does not affect product quality.
Distinctive NANGA Craftsmanship
The stitching on the arms is specially designed to prevent the down from compressing, a unique feature that showcases NANGA’s expertise with down products.
Details That Block Out the Cold
On especially cold days or when windproofing is needed, the hood and drawcords block out chilly gusts.
The front zipper features a waterproof seal to enhance water resistance while preventing cold air from entering. Adjustable cuffs and a drawcord hem provide additional protection against drafts.
Both sides of the jacket feature hand pockets, along with a chest pocket equipped with a hand warmer to keep your hands cozy.
Comfortable, Non-Bulky Silhouette
This season, the silhouette is given a slight increase in space, making it easier to layer with thick items like hoodies or knits.
The sleeves are designed with a three-dimensional shape that moves naturally with the body, enhancing a relaxed and comfortable fit.

Staff comment
●Staff (165cm/52kg) Body Type: Slim Wearing: Size S Worn over a lightweight sweatshirt, it offers a relaxed fit. The length fully covers the hips, and the sleeves reach the back of the hands. There’s plenty of room in the chest, so it can comfortably layer over a thicker knit as well. |
●Staff (171cm/61kg) Body Type: Average Wearing: Size S/M This model runs about one size larger than last year’s version. For a tighter fit, Size S works, but I opted for Size M for a slightly relaxed silhouette, similar to the look on the 173cm model. Worn over a lightweight sweatshirt, there’s still room in the chest. The sleeve length slightly covers the back of the hands, and the length reaches just over the hips. Size L felt too large. |
●Staff (177cm/67kg) Body Type: Average Wearing: Size M/L For a snug to true-to-size fit, Size M is ideal, matching the silhouette seen on the 173cm model. For a more relaxed fit, Size L provides plenty of space. The length covers the hips, with enough room in the chest to layer over a thicker sweatshirt without feeling tight. Sleeves reach about to the back of the hands, making it an overall good fit. |
●Staff (181cm/80kg) Body Type: Broad Wearing: Size L/XL For a snug to true-to-size fit, Size L is good, but I chose Size XL for a roomier feel over a thick sweatshirt. It provides a generous fit, with the length fully covering the hips and sleeves reaching the back of the hands. There’s ample space in the chest and armholes, allowing for easy layering with oversized sweatshirts. |
