The 14.7oz denim combines the deep indigo of “TOKUNO BLUE” with a distinctive fabric construction using a finer weft yarn. The unwashed rigid finish gives the fabric a firm feel and dimensional character, while its deep indigo tone creates a refined, sophisticated look. As you wear it in, the fabric gradually evolves, developing into a pair that is uniquely your own.
Slightly slimmer than a standard straight fit, the narrow fit features a slightly lower rise, moderate room through the thighs, and a subtle taper below the knees for a clean, streamlined look. Founded in 2006 in Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama—one of Japan’s most renowned denim-producing regions. MOMOTARO JEANS is known for its deep, rich indigo known as “TOKUNO BLUE” and the supple comfort of premium Zimbabwe cotton. From fabrics woven on traditional shuttle looms to the brand’s signature “pink selvedge,” Japanese craftsmanship can be found in every detail. Following a rebranding in 2024, the brand continues to pursue a more refined style while preserving its traditions, attracting denim enthusiasts around the world.
Wear in the deep indigo, just as it is
The fabric is made from 100% cotton 14.7oz denim. It has substantial weight while remaining relatively supple for rigid denim, making it approachable and comfortable from the beginning.
The combination of deep “TOKUNO BLUE” indigo and a distinctive fabric construction using a finer weft yarn creates a refined appearance unique to dark denim. The unwashed rigid finish allows you to appreciate the fabric’s natural firmness and dimensional character from the very first wear.
The denim is also treated to minimize shrinkage after washing, taking extra care with one of the key considerations when wearing rigid denim. As it is worn in, the fabric gradually develops its own character, allowing you to enjoy watching the original deep color evolve into a pair that is uniquely your own.

Thoughtful construction in every detail
The front features a zipper fly and a button engraved with the brand name.
A waistband curtain, a detail also commonly used in tailored trousers, is fitted inside the waist to help create a clean appearance around the waist when a shirt is tucked in.
The jeans feature a classic five-pocket construction. The protruding ends of the rivets are flattened and smoothed to reduce snagging against clothing and other items.
Hidden rivets are also placed at the back pockets for added durability.
An original MOMOTARO JEANS cowhide leather patch is placed at the back. Like the denim itself, it develops its own character and patina beautifully over time.
The construction from the side seams to the hem is designed to highlight denim’s natural three-dimensional character. Roll up the hems to reveal the selvedge, a hallmark of fabric woven on traditional shuttle looms, adding a subtle accent to simple styling.
