DESCENTE and Waterfront, a leading umbrella brand in Japan, spent about a year jointly developing this "durable" and "lightweight" high-function folding umbrella for both sunny and rainy weather.
The umbrella is equipped with a number of special features that were developed based on the extensive knowledge of umbrella specialist Hiroyuki Tsuchiya. With its excellent UV-cut function and special structure to absorb impact and wind, it is a reassuring item that can cope with sudden changes in weather conditions, from daily life to leisure activities.

Umbrella Sommelier, Hiroyuki Tsuchiya
He was in charge of rain gear at a major home improvement center and became fascinated by the craftsmanship, functionality, and beautiful forms of various umbrella makers' products. After joining "Waterfront" in 2019, he became responsible for procurement and store layout and has been active as the world's first "Umbrella Sommelier," spreading the charm of umbrellas widely.
Blocks Rain and UV Rays
The umbrella fabric is made of water-repellent polyester. By applying polyurethane coating to the back of the umbrella fabric, it achieves a UV cut rate of over 99.9% and UPF50+. It can be used year-round to block the UV rays that pour down and for both sunny and rainy weather.
Peace of Mind Even on Dark Roads
The name band and logo layout on the umbrella fabric feature a reflector function for peace of mind on dark roads. Also, the name band can be fixed when expanded, making it easy to fold neatly.
Special Structure to Deflect Impact and Wind
To pursue the durability of the umbrella, a spinner structure is adopted. By rotating the umbrella body, it deflects the impact when wind or umbrellas collide. Additionally, the rotation is adjusted to minimize the risk of splashing water.
*It doesn't mean it rotates strongly when the wind blows.
Lightweight and Durable
It features eight ribs suitable for a beautiful umbrella silhouette. The main material is fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), which is lighter and more flexible than metal ribs, ensuring durability while keeping the number of ribs to eight for weight reduction.
Wide Size for Peace of Mind
The subdued coloring can adapt to any scene. When expanded, it has a wide size with a diameter of about 110cm, providing solid protection even during sudden heavy rain.
Durable and Long-lasting for the Earth
Currently, umbrella malfunctions or damage caused by strong winds or heavy rain lead to disposal. The brand's development of this product aims to reduce environmental impact by eliminating disposable umbrellas and encouraging people to cherish their favorite umbrellas for a long time.
