Each Karen Silver bead has its own fine pattern, which shows the craftsmanship of the artisan. Wax makes tough cords tougher
Wax is impregnated into polyester fibres to make them tougher. The polyester fibres are soaked in wax and spun to make the normally strong cord even stronger. It also gives the cord a nice patina when used.
