COZUN is a rare small-diameter knitting machine—one of only a handful still in existence worldwide—modified from a Taisho-era loopwheel machine.
Knitted slowly at an optimal tension, the fabric traps plenty of air, creating a sweatshirt material that is exceptionally soft while retaining a distinctive firmness and resilience.
The reverse side is hand-brushed by skilled craftsmen, creating a plush, warm texture that keeps you comfortable even in cooler weather.
A piece defined by Union Special sewing and vintage details
The fabric’s firmness, combined with the pattern design, gives the hood a natural shape, setting it apart from ordinary hoodies.
Sewing is carried out using the legendary "Union Special" machines—extremely rare today due to their low efficiency and demanding maintenance.
Each panel of the thick COZUN fabric is stitched with a four-needle flatseamer, minimizing bulk on the inside for a smooth, comfortable feel against the skin.
Gussets are placed under the arms to faithfully reproduce classic vintage sweatshirt details.
Advanced easing techniques are applied to keep the zipper line smooth, and the zipper is fitted with an original BARNS OUTFITTERS slider.
Highly elastic ribbing at the cuffs and hem provides both ease of movement and warmth.
