Based on COTTON RESEARCH CLUB’s 14.75oz Japanese selvedge denim, this is a Rococo-exclusive used-finish model.
Inspired by the Levi’s 501 66 Early Model, it showcases the smooth vertical fading (“tate-ochi”) that develops naturally over time.
To replicate this characteristic, the fabric was redesigned to reconstruct the deep, nuanced fading unique to the Levi’s 501 66 Early Model. The wash is handled by a Japanese factory experienced with vintage denim, including work for Levi’s Japan, achieving natural and convincing vertical fading.
Retaining the weight and structure of 14.75oz selvedge denim, this is more than just faded jeans—a carefully crafted, distinctive Japanese-made piece.

Launched by textile trading company Toyoshima, this brand focuses on Made-in-Japan blank-body (plain) apparel. Directed by Kazunori and Kanji Yamanobe, who previously worked on A Bathing Ape, the brand was founded in 2025. Inspired by 1990s materials and silhouettes, all spinning, knitting, and sewing are done in Japan. The brand aims to create timeless apparel that transcends age, race, and gender, embodying a modern blank canvas for fashion. 
Brown Cotton Selvedge Capturing the Spirit of Early ’66
Using cotton sourced from the globally renowned trader Toyoshima, this 14.75oz selvedge denim is woven on vintage shuttle looms at Kaihara Denim in Fukuyama, Hiroshima.
For this collaboration, the fabric echoes the feel of early Levi’s 501/66 models. At the time, the warp cotton was slightly off-white before indigo rope dyeing. To replicate that texture, this edition uses “brown cotton” with indigo rope dyeing applied.
Instead of sharp contrasts, the fade flows smoothly vertically, and whiskering emerges naturally. This re-creation of the period’s character is realized using modern techniques.
Finishing is handled by a domestic factory experienced in Levi’s Japan processing, ensuring a convincingly authentic vintage look. 
Classic Details Highlighting the Fabric
The front zipper is a YKK No.5 with a semi-automatic lock, ensuring reliable everyday use.
The design features a classic five-pocket layout, including a coin pocket, with minimal embellishments to highlight the worn-in finish.
Rolling up the coin pocket or hem reveals the iconic red selvedge edge, adding a classic touch. 
Straight-Looking Yet Beautifully Tapered
At first glance, the silhouette appears as a classic straight leg, but it subtly tapers for an elegant line.
Striking a balance between not too wide and not too slim, it suits both casual and smart outfits. The worn-in finish adds character without overpowering the silhouette, making it versatile and enduring in your wardrobe.
