The Refined Warmth — Outerwear for Modern Living
A statement of warmth, elevated with craftsmanship. Designed for the way we live today — in movement between city and nature, work and quiet weekends.
About NANGA
Founded in 1994 in Maibara, Shiga — an area known for over 50 years of craftsmanship in traditional Ōmi silk-filled bedding — NANGA inherits the techniques, precision, and mindset of the region’s long-standing quilt makers. From this heritage grew a down brand dedicated to creating outdoor gear capable of withstanding harsh environments.
The brand name NANGA comes from Nanga Parbat, an 8,126m peak in the Himalayas known as “The Killer Mountain.” It reflects the brand’s founding spirit:“We take on challenges precisely because they are difficult.”
Today, NANGA continues that spirit by maintaining pride as a factory brand, producing responsibly, minimizing waste, and expanding recycling efforts — always pushing against the challenges of modern manufacturing.
What Makes NANGA’s Down Different?
At its core, NANGA is a down manufacturer. Their products are not just designed — they’re crafted by people who truly understand down as a material. This deep respect for feather as a finite resource shapes everything they do.
The Cleanest Down — Washed in Japan
NANGA partners with Kawada Feather, one of Japan’s most advanced feather processors.Using ultra-soft groundwater nurtured by surrounding mountains and the ideal drying climate of the Ise Plain, they achieve a level of cleanliness and loft that defines NANGA’s quality. Clean down = lighter, warmer, longer lasting.
The NANGA Movement — A Circular Down Ecosystem
Down is a precious, reusable resource that can last up to 100 years with proper care. NANGA’s initiative, called the NANGA Movement, focuses on:
• Refurbishing traditional down comforters
• Collecting the leftover feathers
• Cleaning and sorting them
• Creating NANGA’s own recycled down
Their goal is simple:
“A society where recycled down is the natural standard.”
Not just outerwear — a philosophy made visible.
Born from craftsmanship, built with integrity, NANGA protects a resource, preserves a tradition, and creates warmth meant to last.
Exclusive means Haku-only.
