Founded in 2006 in Kojima, Kurashiki, Okayama—one of Japan’s most renowned denim-producing regions. MOMOTARO JEANS is known for its deep, rich indigo known as “TOKUNO BLUE” and the supple comfort of premium Zimbabwe cotton. From fabrics woven on traditional shuttle looms to the brand’s signature “pink selvedge,” Japanese craftsmanship can be found in every detail. Following a rebranding in 2024, the brand continues to pursue a more refined style while preserving its traditions, attracting denim enthusiasts around the world.

The name “TOKUNO” is well earned
The fabric uses “TOKUNO BLUE,” dyed exclusively with indigo for a deep, rich color. By leaving the core of the yarn undyed rather than dyeing it all the way through, the denim develops a striking contrast between its deep original indigo color and the faded areas as it is worn.

At 15.7oz, the fabric is slightly heavier-weight than the 12–14oz denim commonly used, giving it a substantial feel and distinctly denim-like character. At the same time, long-staple Zimbabwe cotton provides a natural softness that gradually conforms to the body with wear.

The fabric is slowly woven on vintage TOYODA shuttle looms, creating a distinctive uneven texture across the surface. This irregular character adds depth to the fades that develop over time.

As the denim has been one-washed, you can start wearing it without worrying about the significant initial shrinkage that can occur with raw denim.







The closer you look, the more MOMOTARO you find
The front features a classic button fly. The top button and rivets feature custom hardware inspired by the peach motif, adding a distinctive MOMOTARO JEANS character to even the smallest details.





The right back pocket features the brand’s signature two-line “Going to Battle” paint, inspired by the banner carried by Momotaro as he set out to defeat the demons. Hidden rivets are also fitted inside the back pockets for added strength.

More than ten types of thread, including cotton and core-spun yarns, are selected according to each area of construction. Even details hidden from view are carefully considered, reflecting the meticulous denim craftsmanship of Kojima, Okayama.
