Based on 1990s archival work pants, they have been updated with a material and balance that are perfect for modern city wear.
While retaining the rugged appeal of cotton duck, the proprietary polyester fabric provides both lightness and stretch—giving a tough-looking pair of pants a comfortably lightweight feel.

Cotton-Look Yet Lightweight: “Tech Duck” Fabric
These pants are made from L.L.Bean’s original “Tech Duck” fabric, crafted from specially engineered polyester fibers (S-Fiber). The irregular fiber cross-section gives the material a matte, cotton-like appearance, despite being 100% polyester.
After a special print is applied to the fabric, it undergoes a garment wash that creates a faded look, reminiscent of well-worn cotton duck. Lightweight and stretchy, the material is also much easier to wear and care for than traditional duck cloth.
The top button is a metal tack button engraved with the L.L.Bean logo, reminiscent of 1980s–90s workwear. An internal drawcord at the waist allows for a comfortable fit without a belt.
The drawcord is color-coded to match each shade, reflecting attention to detail in every element.
In addition to the side pockets, two back pockets with Velcro closures offer practical storage, suitable for both urban and outdoor use.
The legs feature a double-knee construction from thigh to below the knee, faithfully preserving rugged workwear details. A small L.L.Bean logo label sits above the left knee patch, while a brand label on the right rear adds a subtle accent.
Wide Yet Streamlined: A Modern Work Silhouette
Inspired by 1990s double-knee pants, the wide silhouette is tailored around the waist to suit the Japanese physique, giving a neat, streamlined appearance. Its carefully balanced volume ensures a contemporary workwear look without any bulkiness.
